COVID-19 and Floatation Therapy

The recent unprecedented times have only increased the need to escape into a floatation tank.

This area provides information for anyone who doubts the safety of floating and also how the Orbit can benefit to make the process safer for both the User and the Operator.

Is it safe to float?

Yes, it is safe to float in a well-disinfected system (WHO). The environment inside a floatation tank, especially the Orbit, is a very harsh condition for bacteria or viruses to grow or live in with the combination of Hydrogen Peroxide (the disinfectant) and heavily saturated Magnesium Sulphate (Epsom Salt) in the solution.

The Orbit floatation tank also incorporates the use of two 1-Micron Bag Filters to remove contaminants from the solution and also a built-in UV Sterilisation unit that is all used between every float. The Orbit floatation tank also completely fills & empties which means 100% of the solution is sanitized.

Advantages of the Orbit

Orbit Float Tank Disinfectant

ORBIT 8% H202
99.999% proven bacterial kill rate, No harmful by-products and totally non-corrosive in use. Odour, colour and taste-free. Degrades into water and oxygen post disinfection.

Orbit Filtration Icon

ORBIT BAG FILTERS
Microfibre layers efficiently remove fine particulate and also unwanted trace oils from the liquid, Multiple layers of prefiltration ensure high levels of contaminant removal and Micron graded density filtration. WRAS approved product.

Orbit Surface Cleaner

ORBIT 3% SURFACE CLEANER
Excellent surface cleaner breaks down biofilm left on the surface of the Orbit and provides an active disinfectant coating preventing germicidal growth. Highly effective surface or object disinfectant

Orbit Solution Processing

COMPLETE SOLUTION PROCESSING
Every time the Orbit is filled and emptied, the solution passes through the advanced filtration system including two 1 micron bag filters and a UV Sterilization unit providing customers with a crystal clear solution every time.

Orbit UV Sterilization Unit

ORBIT UV STERILISING UNIT
Ultraviolet Germicidal Irradiation (UVGI) is a disinfection method that uses short-wavelength ultraviolet (UV-C) light to kill or deactivate micro-organisms by destroying the nucleus and disrupting their DNA, leaving them unable to perform vital cellular function

Orbit Approved Epsom Salt

ORBIT APPROVED SALT
Sourced from natural deposits and 100% organic. Orbit Approved Epsom Salt makes for a very harsh environment for bacteria to grow let alone survive. Low in secondary salts and heavy metals, fully water-soluble, colour-neutral. Sourced from natural deposits and 100% organic.

There is no evidence that COVID-19 can be spread to humans through the use of pools and hot tubs (CDC) which means the same for floatation tanks as they are isolated units that are treated with the same disinfectants and cleaning process. Proper operation, maintenance, and disinfection (e.g. with chlorine and bromine or Hydrogen Peroxide for use in the Orbit, with a 99.999% proven bacterial kill rate) of pools and hot tubs should remove or inactivate the virus that causes COVID-19.

Whilst the Orbit can keep the solution safe, it is down to the Operator the ensure Maintenance and sanitization of the system are kept. This means ensuring:

It's cleaned appropriately between every use with Orbit-3 (our very own Disinfectant Surface Cleaner)

The solution H202 PPM is maintained at 100PPM with the use of Orbit-8 (Our solution disinfectant), and the pair of 1-Micron Bag Filters are changed adequately over time.

The Orbit's UV Sterilisation unit works in the background every time the system is run for a Float Cycle or even simply during a heat recovery cycle.
